Description
Washingtonia is native to Southwest America and Northwest Mexico, and may grow up to 25 m. Theleaves are palmate, light green and pinnate. The leaves may be 1 m long while petioles may be 2 m long. Many leaves have naked petioles. The flowers grow on a single stipule. The fruits are 6-10 mm long. They like warm climates and sunny locations. Generally, they are resistant to salt. Some species are hardy to cold up to -5 °C. They can be planted solitary or as a group.
