Description
They are distributed in cold and temperate regions of northern hemisphere. There are 40 species. They may grow up to 20-30 m, and are evergreen with pyramidal crown. Needle-like leaves are short, acicular with quadrate edged. Scales of immature cones are not dispersed around. As they strike broad roots, they are vulnerable against strong winds and storms. However, they are resistant to cold weather. They are best grown under sun and partial shade.
