Description
Olea is a genus of evergreen trees or shrubs, growing up to 15 m, native to Syria and Turkey. The leaves are leathery, thick, and subulate with very short petiole. Upper part of the leaf is grey-green while beneath is bluish silver, and the leaf is covered with white, dense feathers. The flowers are produced on stipule or on terminal bud in panicles, they are white and fragrant. Stem has many branches and is gray; the bark is very scabrous. It tolerates to drought and likes sunny habitats. Its bark creates an historical influence in where it is exhibited. Suitable as solitary.
