This family contains 15 genus and 140 species. They are widely distributed in the forests of Southernand Northern hemispheres. They grow fast and up to 20 m tall. Opaque dark green lamina leaves are arranged in opposite each other along the stems. They tolerate pruning and air pollution. They grow in pyramidal forms.
