Description
There are about 60 species. They are native to South and Central Europe and like temperate climates. The leaves of many species are opposite. Seasonal pigmentation can be seen on the leaves. The fruits are bright red. The flowers are whitish-yellow. It tolerates to air pollution. There are some species with prominent bark colors in winter. They are also suitable as hedge plants. They can be utilized as wind barriers due to their strong stools.
