Description
Alnus, exceeding 25 m as height, is a dark nut bearing, with rare branches and slow-growing tree. Alnus expands in wetlands and humid forests, and prefers humic soils. It can tolerate up to -15 °C. The leaves are 4-9 cm long and 3-7 cm wide, obovated and serrated. Alnus produces wide, brown or dark green cones with 2-3 cm long in fall. Due to the small lobes found in root nodules and absorbing the free nitrogen, it improves the nitro fertility of the soils.
