Description
It is native to warm temperate regions of Northern America. It is a deciduous tree reaching up to 20 m height. It is recognized by its oval, heart-shaped, needle typed leaves. The leaves are smooth and light green, beneath feather-veined. They have 25-30 cm long petiole. They prefer humid conditions. They do not require much care. Brownish gray bark cracks with age. Flowers are white and blossoms in June and July. Due to their large leaf size, catalpas provide very dark shade and are a popular habitat for many birds. It is preferred as a roadside tree.
