Description
Parrotia is endemically distributed to the south of Iran. It may grow up to 10 m. The bark is pink-brown; however it decomposes in the later years. The leaves turn red in autumn. Orange-red flowers bloom in March and April. It has small fruits; they are 5-12 cm long. It likes partial shade. Although it grows well in mild temperatures, it also tolerates to high temperatures, frost and wind. Humid and clay garden soils are preferred. Parrotia is suitable for urban use.
