Description
Lagerstroemia is a genus of around 50 species of trees and shrubs native to Japan and China. The length of leaves varies from 2 to 8 cm long. Blooming period is generally long. The showy flowers exhibit themselves on terminal buds. The flowers are in color tones of pink, purple, white or red. Even in the defoliation season, it is also attractive with smooth and glossy, light brownish-pink bark. They grow slowly and become reddish in fall. They like sunny areas, and can be planted as solitary tree or as shrub in landscaping.
