Most of the Asters are perennial or annual herbaceous widespread plants in many parts of the world, including North America. There are 250 species in the world. It blossoms in summer. Flowers may be red, pink, blue, white or mauve. High and medium height species are well to establish perennial borders. They can also be used in the front of shrubs or in grassy gardens.
