Description
Acer is a genus of trees or shrubs commonly known as maple. There are approximately 200 species, most of which are native to China. There are some species of Acer self-grown in clusters in forests of Turkey, aswell. The seeds of Acer tree, or ‘whirlybirds,’ occur in distinctive pairs each containing one seed enclosed in a “nutlet” attached to a flattened wing of fibrous, papery tissue. Acers fall their leaves once in a year. They are red, green or yellow. Acers, with small flowers on them, present very distinctive appearance with different reddish color tones of their leaves in fall. Some species are preferred due to their stamina against gases, dust and wind. They are widely used in many areas.
